Google One Rule For Brands, And Another For You

More evidence that Google rules don’t apply if you are big player.

I love noodles, so I decided I want to get the real Japanese Ramen Bowls, or Noodle Bowls, so I head on over to the goog and do a search for Ramen Bowl.

I notice on the paid ads on the right hand side Trip Advisor showing a totally unrelated ad. Yes that’s right, I am searching for a Ramen Bowl, and I am getting an ad telling me I can read Hotel reviews and save.  See the ad titled ” Fairly large bowls of ramen”

I did another search for noodle bowl, and once again, Trip Advisor is showing up. See ” Map of Szechuan Noodle Bowl ”

I wonder how long I would last trying a run a PPC Campaign like this?

My guess is they would kick my ass from here to Tokyo within 5 minutes of going live. No doubt with a warning about showing ads that are not relevant or provide a “poor user experience.” Yet here are Trip Advisor shamelessly abusing the system without a problem.

Internet Marketers continue to get the shaft, but it seems the big players don’t have to play by the same rules. So while internet marketers get banned, Brands just keep doing what they want, no Google slap for them!

Not that Google favour Brands though
